YoSoyMatt

Roberto Matthews, better known as YoSoyMatt, blends the tropical rhythms of his coastal childhood with smooth, uncomplicated electronic harmony. His music has become a bridge between the traditional and the digital, exploring genres like downtempo, house, and organic electronica while maintaining a distinctly tropical essence.

His project is a sonic journey that crosses seas and memories. With echoes of wind through palm trees and the murmur of the ocean, his music turns memories into mysterious tropical landscapes.

His artistic identity is captured across the albums Cosmos Tropicale (2018), Atlas (2019), and Yo No Soy Marinero (2024), an album inspired by the sea and his youth in Veracruz that marked a turning point in his career. Over the years, he has collaborated with artists such as Polocorp (Polo & Pan), Poolside, slenderbodies, French Braids, Santi & Tugce, and Eva de Marce. In 2025, he received two Gold Records for “Sr. Tigre” and “La Niña del Volcán,” further solidifying the emotional resonance and reach of his music.

From his wheelchair—due to muscular dystrophy—Matt transforms every stage into a space of freedom. His phrase, “You don’t need legs to dance if the rhythm is in your heart,” spoken during his EDC México 2022 performance, became a symbol for his community.
